Mylands Colour of the Year 2022: Rose Taupe™ No.292
Mylands have chosen Rose Taupe™ No.292 as Colour of the Year for 2022. Originally a shade from the British Colour Council, this deep brownish grey has a vintage feel and contains bright yellow, red and black pigments, making it both a timeless neutral yet rich and atmospheric. The colour is part of our recently launched Archive Collection, comprising 12 colours inspired by our rich archive developed over many decades of colour expertise, but with a timeless appeal for a modern world.
The shade is great for creating a relaxing, cosy environment and welcoming space. It is also a great choice to accent against pale shades, or calm down bold, bright colour schemes. The complex pigments within the colour mean that its character is highly nuanced and it will appear subtly different in varying lights.
In choosing our Colour of the Year we wanted to take into consideration current trends, as well as choose a shade that is classic and natural. In recent months, we have seen demand increasing for warmer shades, and Rose Taupe™ No.292 is a contemporary neutral that will bring character to a space without taking it over. This warm grey shade is a dream to work with - it pairs easily with many colours, from the softest pinks and blues to matt black. It complements cool or warm shades, making it a favourite choice for discerning decorators.

For those favouring a pared-back neutral scheme, Rose Taupe™ No.292 works well with other neutrals, soft pastels and off-whites.
